What Vest Pocket Does For You and What You Can Do

“A city is a network of its neighborhoods – local businesses are the heart of each one.”

As a member of Vest Pocket, the best thing you can do to support Vest Pocket and grow our membership is to know what we do, what we offer members and that we are valuable to our communities because of what we bring to them. Below are some talking points that will help us promote Vest Pocket and locally owned businesses to new members and our communities.

The Vest Pocket Board is an outstanding and varied working board – a group of talented, passionate people that donate countless hours to helping local businesses with governmental issues and challenges. Vest Pocket board members mentor business owners, educate the community and build bridges. We fundraise and donate our time, money and services. Each of us is a local business owner and faces the same day to day challenges as our members.

  • Ellen Reddick and Mary Corporon, President & Vice President, serves on the SLC Business Advisory Board. They are committed to small businesses and consistently goes to bat for small businesses with Cities, City Councils, the County and the Legislature.
  • Mary Corporon and Tony Weller are the Voices of Vest Pocket and tell it like it is.
  • Vest Pocket gave life to the Local First campaign to brand the Buy Local Concept.
  • Each new VP member is welcomed by members via e-mail and listed in the Vest Pocket on-line directory
  • Vest Pocket’s monthly breakfast at Lamb’s provides bonding, networking and guest speakers that inform members on current issues
  • Vest Pocket’s quarterly newsletters educate the public and promote member businesses
  • Vest Pocket’s quarterly socials are great fun and the perfect way to meet new members at new local businesses
  • Vest Pocket’s calendar on the VP web site promotes and keeps everyone informed of member’s happenings and events
  • The VP Board just voted to offer members a discount. For every new member VP members bring to VP, you will receive $10.00 off your membership.
Last but not least, locally owned independent businesses contribute to the local economy by:
  • Our buying habits – we buy from each other
  • Donating and contributing to local causes and events
  • Making communities safer places because we care and watch over our neighbors
  • We are aware and are active environmental stewards
  • We believe and participate in our local community processes by participating in community councils
  • We work at making sure our businesses improve the community
  • Most of all, Vest Pocket members value and contribute to a local, living and sustainable economy and that is vitally important to maintaining a quality life and ensuring a better world for generations to come.
  • Each Vest Pocket member carries the Vest Pocket mission forward in one form or another.
